Miss Wildheart recommends restaurants in Goa

GOA is love of my life. I happen to take minimum two trips a years to Goa. And why not ??? It's a beautiful place and you get cheap beers. Yeah!  I love my beers more than my Rum and Whiskey. Also I love seafood especially Goan Cuisine, the yummy and fresh fish are just irresistible.

My Goa trips are more about food and every single person who knows me has an idea that sea food is my love. So trust me when I say that I have tried many fancy, average and homestyle restaurants in Goa and below are the ones that have really impressed me with their food and the quality of fish. I make it a point i visit at least two these restaurants on each trips.

Below are few of my favourite restaurants in Goa.

Kokni Kanteen:

Fish Thali at Kokni Kanteen, Panjim

With amazing interiors and super amazing seafood, this place is highly recommended. The food severed authentic kokni food, that would be staple in Goan household. If you are visiting on sunday do order for the fish thali.

Must have: Goan style Squid chilly, Serradura.

Check them on Zomato.

Nostalgia:

Entrance of Nostalgia, Madgoan
Bar at Nostalgia

Prawns rawa fry

Prawns curry and Chicken Xacuti at Nostalgia, Madgoan
I actually saw this restaurant in some web show about authentic cuisines. I have been to this place only once and I still remember the taste of the Portuguese-Goan cuisine. The places also host live music at night.

Must have: Chicken Xacuti and Prawns rawa fry.

Check them on Zomato.

Le Jardin:

Chonak rawa fry at Le jardin, Mapusa

Crab Xacuti and rice at Le Jardin, Mapusa

This is one place I am visiting for last 7-8 years. This is a simple and small restaurant in Mapusa near bus stand. Everything on menu here is a must have. Also most of the time they have some offers on beers and other drinks. Preferably order for thali, they have varieties of fish thali

Must Have: Chonak rawa fry, Surmai Rawa fry, Prawns curry, Crab Xacuti and Serradura

Check them on Zomato

Bobs Inn:

Squid Chilly and Prawns rawa fry at Bob's Inn, Candolim

Crab Xacuti at Bob's Inn, Candolim

Prawns curry and rice at Bob's Inn, Candolim

This is a new addition to my must eat restaurant in Goa. On my recent trip visited this place for late lunch(Luckily it was open as it was peak season). A friend had recommended this restaurant years back and I never got a chance to visit it until now. And I must say the owner (Bob Uncle) is very sweet. I called to check if they are open he asked me to place my order in advance so our food is ready once we reach.

Must Have: Prawns rawa fry, Squid Chilly, Prawns curry and Crab Xacuti.

Check them on Zomato

Viva panjim:

This restaurant was an ancestral home which is now converted into a restaurant that serves a variety of Goan and Portuguese Cuisine. The owner and the staff are very helpful and friendly. This place is little difficult to locate but worth all the efforts you put to reach there.

Must have: Chicken Vindaloo and Prawns curry

Check them on Zomato

Infantaria:

This is one of those cafe I am visiting for 8-9 years now. I still remember my first visit to this place was for the amazing alcohol offers they had written on the board outside. This place serves Continental and Goan food. Ohh the vegetarian food here is equally nice (I just tasted from my friends plate).

Must have: Squid chilly, Croissants and Prawns curry.

Check them on Zomato

Only Vegetarian Option:

Navtara:

They have multiple outlet all over Goa and is a pure veg restaurant. I have had breakfast once-twice at the outlet in Panjim. But yeah if you are looking for good vegetarian food this can be one option. But note that they don't serve Goan cuisine here. its more of a south Indian, Mulghali and Chinese kinda place.

There are mini cafes that serve the bhaji and Poe (Goan Bread) and Mirchi bhaji all over the state. You would find the local street food Rassa Omlette vans/stalls everywhere in state.

If you have tried any of these places mention in the comments what was your experience and what dish did you like the most. Also if you have any recommendation mention them in the comments too.

Monsoon Trek - Lohagad Fort

As monsoon arrives Mumbaikars plans a day trip to waterfalls or forts/hills. Monsoon is the best season for the trek as you get a feeling of walking into the clouds. There are quite a few forts nearby Mumbai for one day trek but if you have never trekked you probably need to start off with the easiest fort/hill.  We (me & my friends) too planned a trek to this beautiful fort near Lonavala named Lohagad. It is considered as the easiest of all and it hardly takes an hour and a half to two hours to get to the top of the fort. This iron fort has a beautiful structure and under heavy monsoon rain, the plateau on the fort becomes misty and cold. Sadly it didn't rain during our visit but it was only cloudy. So overall it was a pleasant weather for a trekking day.   View at the first sight And yes not to forget the  scenic surrounding, which makes climbing the fort a little easy and worth. When you reach to little height a...

Other side of the city - Hidden Monetary Museum

Mumbai - this city can never stop surprising me. I have lived 24 years in this city, visited museum like Bhau Daji lad museum, Prince of Wales museum. But to my surprise, there is a monetary museum at P.M road, Fort. My mom had her old office here, so been in that area a lot of times and never noticed the Museum. Recently was searching some interesting places to visit in Mumbai I came across RBI Monetary Museum. And was super curious to see what it has to offer. One Sunday afternoon went there, and it was closed as it was a public holiday. It is generally open on Sundays. So next attempt was a Saturday, and I was just in time as it shuts at 5:15 PM. So I was asked to keep my bag and phone in the locker room next to museum. By passing through a strict checking I enter the museum.   I had made guesses that it museum would have few old currency issued by RBI on display. But I was surprised to find that there was currency displayed from Old age barter system till day.  The ...

For love of Museum - Aga khan Palace

I have this weird love for Museums and historical monuments. All cities I visit, I make it a point I visit the museum if there is one. On my recent visit to Pune - a city of Maratha history and heritage. I decided to ditch the usual tourist spots. I visited this place called Aga Khan Palace. Its palace turned Museum.  In 1969, Aga Khan Palace was donated to the Indian people by Aga Khan IV as a mark of respect to Gandhi and his philosophy. Today the palace houses a memorial to Gandhi where his ashes are kept (some part of ashes other is at Raj Ghat, Delhi). The palace is headquarters of the Gandhi National Memorial Society.  During independence movement Gandhiji, his wife Kasturba and personal assistant Mahadev Desai were interned here. Room on the ground floor is occupied with the picture and personal belongings of Gandhiji and Kasturba Gandhi. The palace archives a number of photos and portraits depicting glimpses from the life of Mahatma Gandhi and oth...
